All In: Christ & His Community

When we desire authentic relationships, community begins to form, and when community forms around a shared vision, a bond is created that unites the community for a purpose greater than themselves. One of the unfortunate truths about western Christianity today is that most people don’t understand the purpose of the Church as the Bible defines it. Many believe that church is primarily a personal activity only for personal gain. The truth, however, is that purpose of the Church is much bigger than that! The Church is meant to be a community of people focused on Jesus, and that focus launches us, as a community, into a mission and purpose of making Jesus known throughout the world. The reality is that this community is an eternal community, and we want to learn now what it means to be a part of it!

Join us as we explore these truths in our “All In: Christ & His Community” teaching series. The series will focus on the book of Ephesians, and through that we’ll learn in-depth what it means to be in Christ and to be part of His community. Be sure not to miss this series as we learn the “manifold wisdom of God” expressed through His Church.

More people attend church on Easter Sunday than on any other day of the year. It’s an excellent opportunity to check out a church for the first time and be reminded of the message of Easter. It’s also a great opportunity to invite friends to church who you might not normally invite. At Destination Church, we want to make this Easter Sunday an enjoyable and meaningful experience for everyone who attends.

Our Easter Sunday service is also the kick off of our teaching series entitled, “All In: Christ & His Community.” The series will focus on the book of Ephesians, and in our Easter kickoff, we will focus on the ultimate purpose of life and how Jesus defines that purpose. Authenticity

One of the most intriguing and confusing aspects of the Christian life is the use of Spiritual gifts in the church. Questions naturally arise such as, “What are Spiritual gifts all about? How do we know we’re meant to use them? Who is able to use them? Didn’t Spiritual gifts cease?” We desire to dissolve the confusion surrounding Spiritual gifts and bring clarity to their purpose and their use in the church. We’re going to explore 1 Corinthians 12 – 14 and learn what the scriptures say about Spiritual gifts.

Determination 101

Have you ever felt there’s more to life than what you’re living? We’re not meant to live mediocre lives, but on some level we all struggle with being underwhelming and feeling inconsequential. But here’s the problem: On our own, we don’t really know how to break out of ruts. We don’t really know how to do more than “just get by.”

There’s a tendency to not make any changes, and dissatisfaction remains. Why do reasonable people think that doing the same things over and over will result in anything different? In fact, that’s one definition for insanity! The God of the Bible has more for us than just living an ordinary, run-of-the-mill life!

In Proverbs 13:4, God gives us a warning and a promise. He says, “The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” In other words, God is the source of the extraordinary life we desire. Learn how to prioritize, gain focus, and live the disciplined life that God wants us to live.

A Child Is Born

You are invited to Destination’s 2011 Christmas series: A CHILD IS BORN. Please join us for this two part series on December 11 & 18. Note that we are celebrating Christmas during this two week series and will not have a Christmas eve or day service.

We also have a special Baby Dedication during the December 11 service. This dedication is for parents that are regular attenders (attended 3 or more times) or members with children under 2 years old. The dedication will take place during our regular Sunday service and consist of a special time of prayer for each child. Dedication is a decision for each parent to entrust their child’s future to the Lord and pray over them for Gods blessing.

Please sign up each child you wish to dedicate (email subscribers click here). Parents will need to write a short prayer of dedication in order to participate. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family to celebrate together. Sign up with this form.

Adventure: Pursuing Hazardous Action

To calculate velocity you need to combine speed with direction. This measurement is not just about acceleration, but overall aim. Welcome to Spiritual Velocity, Destinations new Sunday teaching series starting February 27.

It’s easy to look at people with spiritual speed and start to feel inferior. Or, to look at those who have a crystal clear calling and feel inadequate. But what if those things aren’t connected properly in our lives? If one is just slightly off we can lose sight of the big picture and our velocity negatively changes. How do we measure our spiritual velocity and train ourselves to move forward at the correct pace and at the correct target?
