Meet the Leaders
Matt Sweetman is the Founding Pastor of Destination Church. Matt was born 1979 and grew up in Brighton, England. He moved to the United States in 2004. He is married to Heather and they have three children: Jones, Macrae, and Paisley. After pursuing a marketing career and simultaneously completing Trilogy – a three-year biblical and leadership training program – he felt called to start a new church. Matt and Heather moved their family to St. Louis for an intensive year of church planting training. In April 2009 they moved to Chicago, and Destination Church began. Matt is enthralled with Christ and wants to see churches established that truly make disciples and reach the nations with the gospel. Matt is the primary teacher at Destination and also leads an advanced members Small Group.
Adam Gerdel serves as Destination’s primary Worship Leader and Audio Coordinator. He oversees various Serving Coordinators and is an integral part of the church’s Core Leadership Team. Adam was born 1979 and grew up in Washington, MO and later moving to Chicago to obtain a sound engineering degree from DePaul University. He is married to Ekemini, and they have two children: Isaac and Israel. Adam currently works in transportation logistics. He is passionate to see God’s people worship in Spirit and truth.
Greg Tiffany oversees several Serving Coordinators and is responsible for various operational activities in Destination. Greg was born 1986 and grew up in Oswego, IL, a suburb of Chicago. He moved into the city after graduating from the University of Illinois and securing a job at GSA. Greg is a dedicated member of the church’s Core Leadership Team and has a strong enthusiasm for the local church to be all it can be. Greg also leads a Small Group.
Kyle Van Someren provides oversight to Destination’s Small Group leaders. Kyle was born 1985 in Amery, WI. He studied at University of Minnesota and moved to Chicago to begin his career in Architecture. Kyle is married to Alissa and they currently live in Chicago’s South Loop. Kyle has a heart for missions work and sharing his faith. He serves as a key member of Destination’s Core Leadership Team.
